watch out in the 2nd part there, 2nd bar D back to E, dont be ahead of your G gracenote. Mostly well executed - keep working on nailing every G gracenote cleanly. I reckon that left hand is just a little too far over the chanter, causing some awkward gracenotes and note transtions at time (ie not cleanly closing the chanter holes). Fingers look really good, nice lift and control from them throughout the tune. Some of it just needs to flow a little bit to draw some more music out but overall this was an excellent presentation.Ĭompetitor: Henry Bautz Place: 4 Tunes: Scots Wha Hae Judge: Davey Welsh Judge's Comments: A very enjoyable presentation Henry. Little bit of a crossing noise to clear up when playing that F grip and when you do the wee touch to through low G (B Low G touch Low A) go a bit softer there, you are kind of 'swooshing' the pinky at it.you will achieve a better sound with just a soft quick Low G there. But.just keep working on getting them consistent, some were ust a little quicker than others at times. Dont let it get nippy Overall an excellent tune! A bright future here.Ĭompetitor: Poppy Middleton Place: 3 Tunes: The Mist Covered Mountains Judge: Davey Welsh Judge's Comments: I really enjoyed this Poppy! You have very clean and tidy fingers, your execution is top notch - Those torluaths, booming. Onelittle missed G gracenote note at the end of one line there and open out the D a fraction before the Doubling (C D E doubling.just again rushing a little) Keep working onthe consistency of that G gracenote. Relax off the C taps a little bit, just jumping at those ever so slightly. Great control, very clean and tidy technique throughout. However a top rate performance for this level and I would be excitied to hear you play this on Bagpipes.Ĭompetitor: Arran brown Place: 2 Tunes: La Boum Judge: Davey Welsh Judge's Comments: A very enjoyable performace Arran. Just a little tight on the first tachum (C doubling, B Low A 2nd line) D throw perhaps just a shade light on the first low G And although it was very steady I think you could get a little more expressionout of this tune - really get some stretch into those long notes, last 2 bars especially - I felt they were just a touch straight through. Beginner Piping (practice chanter) - Slow Air (at least 2 parts)Ĭompetitor: Charné Baird Place: 1 Tunes: The Mist Covered Mountains Judge: Davey Welsh Judge's Comments: Very well played ! Great fingers, very relaxed and very cleanly executed throughout.
